Iyanu(Holy Water) by Iyanya

Colour: Hint of an Upbeat Iyanya’s “Up 2 Sumting”
Genre: Afropop
Song structure: Modern
Intro->Verse 1-> Chorus ->Hook->Chorus->Verse 2 ->Hook-> Outro
Energy: Well Spread and even energy across verses and choruses
Loudness: -10 LUFs
Tempo: 105 bpm

Bass: Simple interludes and weaves of bass lines(delightful)
Percussion: constant , few. sounds of wood, conga, mallets, other percussive variants etc.
Drums: Colourful snare variant using an afrocentric pattern, 16th Hats, constant “Head nodding” basic Kick , well placed rolls and fills.
Keys: Distinct sweet Piano, upper register used mostly, leads the song with a good vamp(afrobeat style)
Organ: Soft
Strings: soft, backing the song at the right places
Synth: Soft and very little
Brass: None
Hint of a guitar variant somewhere
Artificial Sounds, Fx: Hint of modulated, processed, sliced vocals, others.
Rising “Swish” sounds(well reverberated to give a surround effect)

Main Vocals:
Iyanya’s voice, audible and clean

Back up vocals:
Iyanya’s spatial backup vocals, well harmonized
hint of modulated, processed, sliced vocals( high pitched in some areas)
Adlibs well placed at needed areas

Compression : Song and instruments appears to have good downward compression
0-250 hz : Obvious boost/rise in this area , well controlled
500hz- 2khz : Quite a number of mid instruments. Normal peaks within this area
2khz -5 Khz : Well filtered peaks
5khz- 10Khz: Tapered off high frequencies here
15Khz- 20Khz : Rolled off frequencies
Reverb: Smooth and wide
Delay: reeling effect , sweetly heard in parts of the chorus
Stereo/Pan effects : Good balance of stereo effects , L-R effects felt when “we keep it 100” was said

Mastering dynamics : Solid
Multiband dynamics : Bass , Mids , Tops well balanced
Clipping and Distortion: Happy Meters here. They would cry if Gain went up as much as 5db extra
